Mendigo Wars

A Homeless in a rush of his needs doesn't pay attention to what he is eating, Starts to feel dubious, and sees everyone as an enemy from another kingdom. Help him to defeat them all.

This is my first game ever made. Using Game Maker in 2014 with some friends for a school project.

The idea of the game was to be simple and a criticism of how was the neighbor back at the time.  Please don't take this game seriously

Story: 

In Tatuapé, a neighborhood in the eastern zone of São Paulo, lived a homeless man who usually sheltered under blankets near Praça Silvio Romero. On colder days, he would rely on a trash can for warmth. Another homeless man stayed in the same area and would light a trash can to generate heat during the night. One summer day, the man woke up, and got out from under his blankets, yawning and rubbing his belly. The residents, surprised by the scene, stopped to watch. Some distracted drivers collided with each other, while others ran to their balconies to witness the strange spectacle.

When the man arrived at the shelter, he noticed three volunteers serving soup to a group of five other homeless people. He observed that the volunteers were all overweight, but he took his soup and sat alone, away from the others. As he tasted the soup, he experienced an unusual feeling, a wild, uncontrollable energy building inside him, as if something unstoppable had awakened within.

When he blinked, something strange happened. He suddenly saw himself as a king, and his fellow shelter residents appeared to him as subjects. But when he looked at the outside world, the reality shifted: he saw ordinary people transformed into angry homeless people, ready to attack him. That was when an idea took hold of him. He decided to eliminate the volunteers and go on the offensive, aiming to conquer other "fiefs," and other shelters.

As his madness took form, his destiny led him toward a greater confrontation. He had learned that he needed to face Drummond, a shelter considered unbeatable, where, according to rumors, the true "King of Kings" resided. What he didn’t know, and would only discover later, was that the man he considered a threat was the trash collector from the square—the very one whose commotion had set off this entire chain of events. However, the trash collector had taken refuge in Drummond, becoming a mythical figure amidst the silent war between urban fiefs.

Now, the homeless man, transformed by his distorted perception, was heading toward the final battle, unaware that the true enemy was much closer than he realized.
